Soap Making Products: Liquid Gel Mineral Oxide Soap Colors

Mineral & Oxides Liquid Gel Pigments (non-bleeding)
Non-bleeding, pigments in liquid gel form. An ideal choice for coloring soap embedments. Please note that black oxide produces a gray color when used with opaque (white) base products. Best used for darkening & shading other colors when used in white soap base. The black oxide produces a rich black color when used with transparent soap base.
These are cosmetic grade colors except where noted by (NC). Cosmetic colors are safe for lotion, shower gel, bath salts, melt & pour soaps, CP, and HP soaps. Non-cosmetic (NC) colors should only be used in soap making. The base product used determines color outcome. Depending on the color and desired color intensity, one ounce colors 12-16 pounds of soap to a medium shade.

These colors can be used to paint soaps.
Using a dry brush, lightly dust the soap surface with cornstarch for better paint adhesion. Paint has a tendency to pull away from oily surfaces, such as soap. This is especially true of melt and pour soaps. CP (cold process) soaps tend to have more of a porous surface and paint adheres better. We recommend using professional artist brushes in smooth, even strokes. Allow painted surface to dry for 15 minutes (we suggest overnight) before applying a second color layer. Do not wrap painted soaps for at least 24 hours to avoid paint pulling away from soap surface.

Note that when colors are added to clear base the soap becomes opaque. These colors are opacifying pigments. When added to clear soap, the soap base does NOT remain transparent.

Earthtone Sampler Colors in White Soap Base
When adding these colorants to white base, the colors is more muted in comparison to clear base. Example: Black oxide will appear more gray in white base.
